Why should I enrol my child in kindergarten? 

Kindergarten is an important step in your child's growth. It is the perfect time for exploration, investigation and the learning of life skills through trial and error.

It is not compulsory, but it is highly recommended your child attends kindergarten before going to school.

Research suggests kindergarten:

  • improves your child's health and wellbeing
  • assists them in developing strong social skills
  • encourages a love of learning.

Registering your child for 4-year-old kindergarten

You can register your child for 4-year-old kindergarten any time after they are born. You can nominate up to 5 kindergartens you would like to attend.

You must submit your child's registration before 30 April in the year before they are due to attend kindergarten. If you submit your registration after this date, there may be a delay in offering your child a kindergarten place.

3-year-old kindergarten

The City of Casey does not provide 3-year-old kindergarten. Some private kindergartens do offer programs for younger children. For more information, please contact your nearest:

  • kindergarten committee
  • long day care centre
  • neighbourhood house
